Philip Bailey is an experienced aerospace engineer with a strong background in robotic systems and computer vision. From September 2021 to December 2022, Philip served as the Mars InSight Robotic Arm Team Operations Lead and Sample Transfer System Vision System Cognizant Engineer at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, focusing on camera and computer vision software for the Mars Sample Return Lander. Prior roles at NASA included Robotic Systems Engineer, where Philip contributed to various projects, including the Mars 2020 Robotic Arm and Mars Operations Robotic Arm Planner. Currently, Philip is a GN&C Senior Engineer specializing in Vision Based Navigation at Blue Origin since October 2024, and previously interned in avionics at SpaceX in 2014. Philip holds a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, obtained in 2014, as well as a Bachelor's degree in the same field from the same institution completed in 2014.
