Mark Bateman, PhD, is the Managing Director and Head of Values-Aligned Investing at Aperio Group, part of BlackRock, where they focus on integrating environmental, social, and governance issues into investment decision-making. Prior to this role, Mark founded ENSOGO Analytics, leading the development of proprietary ESG scoring for mutual funds. Mark's extensive experience includes serving as VP of Research and Operations at IRRC, where they contributed to web-based research delivery and were an advocate for environmental and social research in investments. Additionally, Mark held the position of Director of Research at IW Financial, establishing its research department, and served as Legislative Aide to Senator Mark O. Hatfield, addressing pivotal legislative issues. Mark is also a board member of the Sustainable Investment Institute, which emphasizes research on responsible investment topics.
