Dirk Schmitz serves as the Country Head of Germany, Austria, and Eastern Europe and Regional Head of DACH at BlackRock, a position held since January 2018. They also chair the board of BlackRock Asset Management Deutschland AG and have taken on the role of Regional Head of DACH as of April 2023. Prior to BlackRock, Schmitz led the domestic capital markets and investment banking business at Deutsche Bank and held senior positions at Morgan Stanley for a decade, overseeing capital market operations in Germany and Austria. Their career commenced at J.P. Morgan, where they were Head of Swaps and Derivatives Marketing for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Schmitz is pursuing a postgraduate degree in Business Administration at Universität Bayreuth.
