James Ryan currently serves as the Chief Legal Officer and Chief Business Officer at BioNTech SE, a position held since July 2018. Prior to this role, James Ryan was the General Counsel at GW Pharmaceuticals plc from November 2014 to July 2018, and also held the position of Head of Legal Affairs. Earlier in the career, James Ryan worked at Covington & Burling as Special Counsel, providing legal advice to clients in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors, and began as an Associate Lawyer at Morrison & Foerster. James Ryan holds a Ph.D. in Epigenetics and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Experimental Pathology, both from the University of St Andrews.
