Elise Townsend, PhD, DPT, PCS, is an Associate Professor at MGH Institute of Health Professions and a Research Physical Therapist at Massachusetts General Hospital, focused on aiding children with rare diseases through multidisciplinary care and clinical trials. With over 25 years of experience in pediatric physical therapy and research, Elise collaborates on clinical trial design and implementation, particularly in neurogenetic disorders like spinal muscular atrophy and muscular dystrophies. Currently, they serve as a biotechnology consultant for pediatric rare disease clinical trials and are involved with various organizations to support advancements in motor and cognitive therapies for affected children. Elise earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Child Development and holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
