BIO FARMA adalah perusahaan milik negara yang mengkhususkan kegiatan bisnisnya dalam memproduksi vaksin dan sera. Bio Farma didirikan oleh Pemerintah Belanda pada tanggal 6 Agustus tahun 1890 di Jakarta dengan nama PARC VACCINOGEN. Seiring dengan meningkatnya kegiatan produksi, tahun 1923, lembaga ini mengalihkan pusat kegiatan produksinya ke Bandung, tepatnya terletak di jalan Pasteur no 28 - bersebelahan dengan Rumah Sakit Hasan Sadikin.

Saat tanah Nusantara diduduki oleh Jepang (1942 - 1945), lembaga ini diambil alih oleh Pemerintah Jepang, dan namanya berganti menjadi BANDUNG BOEKI KENKYUSHOO. Kegiatan produksi vaksin dan sera masih terus dipertahankan.

Setelah Indonesia merdeka, lembaga ini beralih ke tangan Pemerintah Indonesia (1946). Dr. R.M. Sardjito merupakan orang pertama yang dipercaya untuk memimpin lembaga ini. Dengan perjalan waktu yang panjang, lembaga ini telah banyak mengalami perubahan nama, pernah menyandang nama Perusahaan Negara Pasteur, Perusahaan Umum Bio Farma, dan sekarang PT Bio Farma (Persero).

Produk Bio Farma terdiri dari; vaksin BCG, vaksin DTP-HB, vaksin DT, vaksin Td, vaksin Hepatitis B, vaksin Polio, vaksin Campak, vaksin Influenza, serum anti bisa ular, serum anti difteri, serum anti tetanus. Sebagai perusahaan milik Negara, Bio Farma mendedikasikan diri untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan vaksin Dalam Negeri. sisa kapasitas yang tidak terserap oleh kebutuhan dalam Negeri, Bio Farma mengekspor produk-produknya ke 117 negara.
