Spoločnosť BILLA bola založená v Rakúsku v roku 1953. Po 40 rokoch neustálej expanzie a rozvoja začala svoju pôsobnosť otvorením svojej prvej predajne aj v Slovenskej republike. Rok 1996 bol rokom, kedy sa spoločnosť BILLA stáva súčasťou medzinárodnej skupiny REWE, sídliacej v nemeckom Kolíne. 

Od svojho príchodu na Slovensko prešla BILLA dynamickým vývojom, ktorý je do dnešných dní sprevádzaný každoročným nárastom počtu prevádzkovaných predajní. V novembri 2009 sme oslávili jubileum a v otvorili sme už našu 100. predajňu. V súčasnosti môžete na Slovensku nakupovať už vo viac ako 160 predajniach BILLA.
