Brian Berkel is a retired Detective Lieutenant from the Massachusetts State Police, where they served until 2021 after starting their career in law enforcement with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Westfield State University. Following their tenure in law enforcement, Brian has taken on various roles, including Chair of the Board of Directors for the Berkshire Coalition for Suicide Prevention and Operations Manager at What a Gift, LLC. They continue to support the community as a CSEC Coordinator at the Berkshire County Kids' Place & Violence Prevention Center and as a Court Investigator for the Trial Court of the Commonwealth. Additionally, Brian is actively involved in education as a substitute teacher and mentors youth through 18 Degrees Family Services for Western Massachusetts.
