Michael Simmers is an experienced Rail Practice Leader at Bechtel Corporation, overseeing Rail & Transit Planning, Design, and Construction since February 2012. Simmers has served as Program Director for the Amtrak ARRA Program since 2007, managing the rehabilitation of Amtrak infrastructure at over 300 locations across the United States. Prior roles include Project Manager for Amtrak at Jacobs Engineering from 2009 to 2012, and Senior Engineer at Bechtel from 1999 to 2007, where responsibilities encompassed transit and railway design, construction, maintenance, and inspection across various countries including the UK, Switzerland, Turkey, UAE, and the US. Simmers began the professional journey as Division Engineer at Amtrak from 1994 to 1998, following a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Psychology from the University of Maryland.
