Derek Blais is a seasoned professional with over a decade of experience in the mining and metals industry. Currently serving as a Study Manager at BBA Consultants since March 2011, Derek guides clients through the development of mining projects, ensuring compliance with best practices and regulations while providing strategic advice to mitigate risks. Previously, Derek held roles as a Process Engineer, focusing on metallurgical test work and project management, and as a Department Manager, addressing the challenges of decarbonization and resource utilization. Derek's early career includes co-op positions at Ivaco Rolling Mills and Falconbridge, where responsibilities encompassed quality improvement and efficiency analysis in metallurgical processes. Derek holds a Master’s degree in Materials Engineering from McGill University.
