John Owen is the Chief Executive Officer of AXIS Managing Agency Limited, a role they have held since Q1 2024, and they lead the Specialty Underwriting team within AXIS Global Markets. They specialised in underwriting Credit & Political Risks for the first 20 years of their career and took on increasingly broader management roles from 2011 when they became Novae’s Deputy Active Underwriter. They joined AXIS when it acquired Novae in 2017, initially as Head of Marine & Political Risks. They are a member of the AXIS Global Markets leadership group, the Global Philanthropy Committee and the Reinsurance Security Committee, and contribute to industry conferences and publications such as Marine Insurance News and ICISA Insider. John Owen holds a BA in Politics from the University of East Anglia.
