Stephen Mao is a Senior Patent Counsel at Apple, specializing in intellectual property law. They began their career as a Flash Memory Failure Analysis Engineer at Samsung Semiconductor and transitioned into the legal field through roles as a part-time law clerk and associate at various firms including Blakely Sokoloff Taylor & Zafman and Patterson & Sheridan LLP. From 2015 to 2020, they worked at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP, first as an Associate and then as a Senior Associate. Since joining Apple in 2020, Stephen has advanced to the role of Senior Patent Counsel. They hold a J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center and a degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
