Mercedes Mu is an Engineering Manager in Search Science and Machine Learning at Apple, where they lead a cross-functional team to develop impactful search and discovery features across various media products. Previously, they worked as a Senior Applied Scientist at Microsoft, focusing on query understanding, modeling, and relevance within Bing's search teams. Prior to that, Mercedes honed their skills as a Search Engineer at Yahoo, developing machine learning algorithms for web search results. They began their career as a Statistician/Yield Engineer at dpixel, optimizing statistical analysis systems for process improvement. Mercedes is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science at UC San Diego.
