The African Guarantee Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises (AGF) contributes to the promotion of economic development vital for prosperity, stability and poverty reduction in Africa by enabling SMEs have increased access to financing. AGF has two lines of activities: the guarantee activity and the capacity building activity.

Through our guarantee facility, we assists banks to partially cover the risks associated with SME lending and thus enable them increase their portfolio in that sector. Through our capacity development facility, we assist banks enhance their SME banking capabilities and thus be able to execute their SME banking strategies with ease.

The team seeks out new business opportunities, conducts market analyses, and supports in developing strategies that align with AGF’s mission to boost economic growth and reduce poverty in Africa through improved SME financing access.

Business Development

The Risk Management team at African Guarantee Fund is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks associated with SME lending. This includes evaluating the creditworthiness of SMEs, monitoring portfolio risk, and implementing strategies to minimize potential losses. The team ensures that the guarantee and capacity building activities are aligned with the company’s risk tolerance and regulatory requirements.

This department manages all aspects of communication and public relations to promote and protect the organization's image.

Communications Division

The Leadership Team at African Guarantee Fund sets the strategic direction and ensures overall governance and compliance of the organization. Comprised of the Group Chief Executive Officer, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer, and Group Chief - Internal Controller & Compliance Officer, the team is responsible for driving the mission to improve SME access to financing, overseeing guarantee and capacity building activities, and maintaining rigorous internal controls and compliance standards.
