Carmen Daugherty is a seasoned leader in civil rights and justice reform with extensive experience in various organizations. Currently serving as the Interim Executive Director and previously as Deputy Executive Director at Advancement Project since June 2022, Carmen has focused on fostering an inclusive and just democracy. Prior to this role, Carmen was the Policy Director at Youth First Initiative from May 2016 to June 2022, advocating to dismantle the youth prison model and promote community-based alternatives. Carmen also contributed to criminal justice reform as Policy Director at Campaign for Youth Justice (January 2013 - April 2016) and held multiple positions including Deputy Director and Staff Attorney at Advocates for Justice and Education from January 2007 to December 2012. Carmen holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from Tulane University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science from Vassar College.
